Welcome to my little corner of the internet showcasing my journey into street photography. My name is Benson Lai. I reside in Edmonton, AB, Canada. I am a Registered Nurse, composer for media (www.theaudiocoalition.org) and sneaker store owner.

In 2021 I opened an e-commerce sneaker store, The Kicks by Yeg.Cheapluxe with friends (www.yegcheapluxe.com). Upon learning how to market the store I learned a variety of photography and videography techniques. This led me to experiment with editing my travel photos from Asia that sparked my interest in photography.

I shoot with a Sony Alpha 6400 camera for digital photography. I have a variety of lenses in my kit. Prime lenses include the Sigma 16mm f1.4, Tamron 35 mm f2.8, and Sony 50 mm f1.8; in addition, the zoom lenses I use are the Sony 16-50 mm f3.5-5.6, Sony 28-70 mm f 3.5-5.6, and Sony 18-135mm f3.5-5.6. I also have a Canon AE-1 Program and Fujifilm 300 for film photography. Cell phone photography I use my Apple Iphone 14 Pro Max. All photos are edited with Adobe Lightroom.

I primarily specialize in street photography with a Hollywood cinematic and Japanese animation aesthetic. Leaning into my love of music composition and entertainment (movies, videogames, tv shows, advertisement); however, I started to experiment with expanding into portraiture, landscapes, product, food, retro/film, and abstract photography mediums.
